Personal Accident

Sagicor is pleased to introduce a Personal Accident Insurance Plan to our clients and prospective clients. The plan is being offered to all eligible groups of five (5) or more employees. Such groups must not be formed for the purpose of obtaining insurance coverage. The mandatory benefits under the plan are AD&D/PTD with optional benefits of TTD, TPD& AMER as required.

The plan will provide peace of mind to the insured and will give the assurance that if such loss occurs, he or she will not be further burdened by the financial consequences. Additionally Sagicor believes that this new addition to our product line complements the existing provision of employee benefits.

BENEFITS

ACCIDENTAL DEATH:  If bodily injury results in loss of life of the insured within three hundred and sixty five (365) days after the date of an Accident, Sagicor will pay the principal sum stated in the schedule to the insured’s beneficiary.

ACCIDENTAL DISMEMBERMENT:    If bodily injury does not result in loss of life of the insured, but does result within three hundred and sixty five (365) days in any one of the specific losses shown in the dismemberment schedule, Sagcior will pay the applicable percentage of the Limit of Liability.  

The complete irrevocable loss of use of any part of the body specified in this Schedule shall be deemed to be the loss of such part.

In the event of partial loss of any part of the body specified, a proportionately lower percentage of the Limit of Liability stated in this Schedule shall be payable, such percentage to be determined solely by Sagicor.

PERMANENT TOTAL DISABILITY (PTD):    If, as a result of bodily injury and within three hundred and sixty five (365) days after the date of an Accident, the insured becomes totally disabled, and such disability has continued for at least a period of twelve (12) consecutive months and if the insured is Permanently and Totally Disabled at the end of this period, Sagicor will pay the full amount stated under the Limit of Liability applicable to the insured in accordance with this Schedule, less any amount paid or payable as a result of the same Accident under the ACCIDENTAL DISMEMBERMENT Benefits, at a rate of one percent (1%) per month for  each month, to a maximum of one hundred (100) months.

TEMPORARY TOTAL DISABILITY (TTD):    If, as a result of bodily injury commencing within thirty (30) days after the date of an Accident, the insured is totally disabled and remains so continuously for a period in excess of the Elimination Period (if any), Sagicor will pay periodically the Temporary Total Disability Benefit applicable to the insured in accordance with this Schedule beginning with the first day following such Elimination Period, for the continuous duration of total disability, but not to exceed, the applicable maximum period of 104 weeks

No benefits are payable under Temporary Partial Disability if applicable while payment is being made under Temporary Total Disability.

TEMPORARY PARTIAL DISABLITY (TPD):   If, as a result of bodily injury and commencing within thirty (30) days after the date of and Accident, the insured  is partially disabled and remains so continuously for a period in excess of the Elimination Period (if any ), Sagicor will pay periodically the Temporary Partial Disability Benefit applicable to the insured  in accordance with this Schedule beginning with the first day following such Elimination Period, for the continuous duration of partial disability, but not to exceed the maximum period. Partial disability is paid if the insured returns to work but is unable to engage in the usual occupation prior to disability.

No Benefits are payable under Temporary Partial Disability, if applicable, while payment is being made under the Temporary Total Disability Benefit.

ACCIDENT MEDICAL EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT (AMER)If, as a result of Bodily Injury, and commencing within thirty (30) days after the date of an Accident, and while still totally disabled, the insured shall require treatment by a Physician, use of Hospital facilities, or the employment of a licensed or graduate nurse while at the hospital, Sagicor will pay for the reasonable, customary and necessary medical expenses incurred within fifty two (52) weeks from the date of the Accident for such physician treatment, hospital charges and nurses fees, which are in excess of the deductible, (if any) stated in the Schedule, but not to exceed the amount payable stated in the Schedule as the result of any one Accident.

However, if in respect of such medical expenses, the insured recovers any payment under any other Insurance, Sagicor will only be liable for the balance of such expenses, but not to exceed the Limit of Liability stated in this Schedule as the result of any one Accident.
